- Practice with questions on area - Notes and questions on volume - Introduction to our 3D project (see Google Classroom) - due Friday *** Quiz on Area and Volume Friday MATH 8 - Played our probability games and then took notes and worked on problem on Area from Chp 5 *** Tomorrow we will review, tackle Volume from Chp 7 and work on our Area and Volume project which will be due Friday. LEADERSHIP - Some snow angels work around the school community to get things started followed by the end of our movie and then time to do some personality tests. - Introduction to our assignment of interviewing a community leaders. LEADERSHIP - Finished up our discussion on peer pressure from yesterday - Movie on racism and leadership - Invictus MATH 8
- Chp 11 probability test - Today we started playing our games and reviewed for our final exam *** We will start Area and Volume next week as well as play our other games from those that have been away 21st of the 21st year of the 21st century!! LEADERSHIP - Today we listened to the powerful young poet Amanda Gorman's speech from the inauguration, played scream off, caught up a presentation from our books, worked on our spirit banners and had some follow up questions from our guest presenter yesterday: Guest: Katie Neustaeter 1) What did you enjoy or not enjoy from her talk yesterday? 2) What pointers did Katie provide for public speaking and/or talking with the media? 3) Name a group that the United Way supports that was mentioned yesterday 4) What is "Servant Leadership"? 5) Write your thoughts on one of these two saying that Katie Referenced: a) Lead not by the example of your power, but by the power of your example - Joe Biden OR b) Listen to others, but make your own decisions Gr 11 Spirit Week Games day today for the French Immersion students! MATH 8
- Review and time to work on our probability games *** Probability games are to be played tomorrow and our Chp 11 test is tomorrow also LEADERSHIP - Spaghetti-marshmallow tower building - How long is a minute? - Who deserves respect? - Katie Neustaeter - Guest presentation MATH 8
- Quiz on 11.1 and 11.2 for those that are in class. Those that are at home will be writing their Chp 11 quiz and test next week in class. - Review of Chapter 10 test that was done very poorly, and then we wrote algebra quizzes to replace that test and improve our marks. *** Probability games are due Friday and we will be having our in class Chp 11 test Friday also. MATH 8 - Notes and time for questions on section 11.3 - Time to work on our probability games - Guest presenter Roxanne Lesperance came to talk to us about chance and probability games and the world of gambling and addictions *** Quiz on 11.1 and 11.2 tomorrow (Wed) / Test on Chp 11 Friday *** Probability games are due Friday LEADERSHIP - Paper plates activity / Organization lesson with cards / Puzzle challenge / The Wright Family trip - Time to work on our Spirit Banners (due Friday) - Some final skill presentations MATH 8 - Notes on section 11.2 and time to work on the questions - 2nd half of the class was devoted to planning and working on our probability games (instructions are on our Google Classroom for those that are staying at home). LEADERSHIP - Introduction to our Spring Spirit Banner assignment...(details on Google Classroom for those that aren't in class with us. So that we don't duplicate words, here are the ones chosen so far: - Peace, Ambition, Friendship, Dream, Teamwork, Humour, Respect, Laughter - Videos on our own personal "Happiness Meter" and "Fault vs Responsibility"
MATH 8 - Time to work on 11.1 Qs - Intro of probability game project (will be posted on Google Classroom), and we played 2 probability games with coins and dice LEADERSHIP - Guest Presenter journal entry from yesterday's presentation from Roxanne Lesperance: 1) How did you feel her presentation went? The good and the bad 2) How are new leaders selected in the Nisga tribes? 3) Roxanne talked about consensus. What does that term mean to you as a part of leadership, and how was it used within tribes/clans? 4) What did she mention about the "7 generations" 5) How did assimilation affect her community's sense of pride and leadership? - Journal Entry: Write a short script for how Steve Irwin "The Crocodile Hunter" would describe you in your natural habitat as he was showing you off to his audience. Be creative! - More skills presented today and we had some fun with ice breaker/spirit games. MATH 8 - Chapter 10 test on algebra - Intro to Probability and notes for section 11.1 LEADERSHIP - Presentation of skills - sign language, kick flips, chess openings, basic kitchen knife skills, present wrapping and more - Guest speaker - Roxanne Lesperance
