- Today we looked at the different nutrient reservoirs we have on our planet and how the water cycle affects all the different spheres. - We then started some questions on Google Classroom around our local Kamloops ecology and that of BC. SCIENCES 10 - Research and a debate on the use and creation of nuclear energy LEADERSHIP - Today we started our movie on Leadership "Coach Carter". We will have a guest speaker tomorrow from Western Canada Theatre and then we will resume our movie and questions that go with it Friday. *** WESTERN WEDNESDAY SPIRIT ACTIVITIES IN THE GYM SCIENCES 10

- Today we spent some time reviewing covalent compounds and then worked on review questions from pages 83, 95 and 105 in preparation for Monday's Chp 3 test. We will be doing a more guided review tomorrow. SCIENCES 10 - Today we went over our Chp 5 test on Acids and Bases that we wrote yesterday and then did a lab on reaction types. We will finish up the lab report tomorrow and continue on with exploring different types of chemical reactions. LEADERSHIP - Today we cheered on our Sr Boys basketball team that is at provincials (streamed their game) whie working on our video plans for connecting teachers and students through TikTok style videos. We also wrapped up a bunch of plans and posters for next week's spirit week. SCIENCES 10
- Today was test day. We wrote our Chp 5 test on Acids and Bases. Tomorrow we will be having a lab and getting into reaction types. SCIENCES 9 - Today we looked at how to name and write formulas for covalent compounds. This will not be tested on the Chp 3 test Monday but will likely pop up as a bonus question. LEADERSHIP - Today we had the opportunity to listen to Dr June Francis speak about systemic racism and Black History month among other things. Here is a little bio about Dr Francis: Dr. June Francis is Cofounder of The Co-Laboratorio, Director of the Institute for Black and African Diaspora Research and Engagement, Cofounder of the Black Caucus at SFU and an Associate Professor in the Beedie School of Business and was the Special Advisor to the President of Simon Fraser University on Anti-Racism. She is also Board Co-Chair of The Hogan’s Alley Society. Dr. Francis was appointed Chair of the Anti-Racism Data Committee by the Province of BC, aimed at using data to identify and eliminate systemic racism in the public sector. June has been recognized by the Province of British Columbia, The National Congress of Black Women as a Trailblazer and named to Vancouver Magazine’s 2022 and 2023 Power 50 list. She received the 2021 Rosemary Brown Award for her work to bring equality for girls and women and received the Service Award and The Canada Trust Teaching award from the Beedie School of Business. She has worked with a number of school districts, universities and colleges on anti-racism in education. SCIENCES 9
- Copper (II) chloride and Aluminum lab today SCIENCES 10 - Today was a review day for our Acids and Bases test tomorrow....some questions on the board and plenty of questions from our textbook to look over. SCIENCES 9
- Today we wrote our quiz on compounds with multivalent elements and polyatomic ions. - The remainder of the class was used for review. *** Lab day tomorrow and our Chp 3 test will be next Monday SCIENCES 10 - Today we wrapped up our presentations on ocean acidification from Friday and then followed that up with our quiz on acids and bases. The remaining part of the class the students worked on some review of Chp 5 as they have their test Wednesday. LEADERSHIP - Today was a spirit week work day with a focus on getting the March group's project and advertising finalized. *** Food bank trip #2 tomorrow (meet out front of the school at break) |
