SCIENCES 8 - Today was our Chp 1 Test *** We`ll check out the immune system next just in time for cold season! MATH 8 - We had our dividing fractions quiz today followed up by the Terry Fox run - More PEDMAS to follow tomorrow and we`ll have our Fractions test mid-week next week. SCIENCES HUMAINES 8 - Today we checked out the Bayeux Tapestry, the story behind it all and it`s importance to the set up of the middle ages. Below is an animated version of the Bayeux Tapestry. - We will be re-creating a section of the tapestry next week in class. *** Chp 1 test tomorrow. SCIENCES 8 - Today we had a little practical test with reading glassware in the science lab - We also had the students go through the review sections in the textbook and see which areas they needed more practice with. *** Chp 1 test tomorrow *** Follow the link to the science section to try the sample quizzes on M. - Today we wrote our re-quiz on the multiplication of fractions (much better overall) - We then continued to review the division of fractions (Quiz to come this Thursday) SCIENCES HUMAINES 8 - Today we did some review for Chp 1 and finished off with a great documentary on the Vikings put on by the History Channel (got part way through and will continue it tomorrow. - Today we did a guided review in class of the topics covered in Chp 1 on the cell etc. - We worked on our "A Savoir"...Need to know sheet for the test for Chp 1 - We also completed the crosword for Chp 1 to help review some of the vocabulary in the chapter. - Students who finished early were asked to work away at the review questions in their textbook. *** Tomorrow we will be playing Jeopardy for review for Thursday's test *** 3D cells are due tomorrow MATH 8: - After a disappointing quiz on the multiplication of fractions we went back and did some group review of the concepts and ways of solving them. Things seemed to sink in a little more today, so we will be having a make up quiz tomorrow on the subject. SCIENCES HUMAINES 8: - Today we spent some time on review questions from Chp 1 and also on completing our current events package on the Olympics. The Olympics package will be due Wednesday and we will have our Chp 1 test this Friday. MATH 8 - Today's lesson was brought to you by Domino's Pizza! Why you might ask, well....what better way to learn how to divide fractions than with pizza. - In order to earn your fraction of the pizza (after Mr. Barker shared it out with his TA and fellow teachers), you had to be able to solve the 5 problems from today's lesson on dividing fractions....first people/groups to solve got to eat first....don't worry, everyone got some :) - We may have even had some students try and bribe their way past the questions to get their pizza....didn't work though (see image on right) *** QUIZ MONDAY - Dividing fractions SCIENCES HUMAINES 8
- Today we got to see our presentations on the Vikings. Almost all of the groups presented and we had good discussion following as to what went well and what we can improve on and we even did some self evaluations on the presentations to see how close they were to their actual marks. *** We will be back in class Monday to do some review of Chp 1 SCIENCES 8 - Today we wrote our microscope quizzes which went rather well. - We finished the remainder of the class working on our 3D cell models which are due Tuesday of next week. - We will be doing review over the next two classes and writing our Chp 1 test Wednesday of next week. *** No official homework this weekend unless you want to start to review or work on your cells. SCIENCES 8: - Today we worked on our 3D cell projects. We'll continue with this tomorrow and they need to be handed in next Tuesday. *** Microscope parts and functions tomorrow SCIENCES HUMAINES 8:
- Today we had our last day of working in the computer lab on our Viking projects *** Presentations are tomorrow MATH 8 - We had a review of the division of fractions to start the class and then had some class time to try the questions from 6.2 - We wrapped up with how to divide fractions by fractions (section 6.5) *** Division of fractions quiz Monday *** We are moving classrooms tomorrow and will be in room 211. SCIENCES 8 - Today we reviewed our questions on cells and cell theory and then we looked at diffusion and osmosis - We introduced the 3D cell model project which we'll be spending the next 2 days on in class and it is due Tuesday of next week. - Today we spent time going over multiplying fractions and the different ways we can represent these types of equations for our quiz tomorrow. - We finished up with a couple worksheets on adding and subtracting fractions using positive and negative numbers to review some of the work from elementary and add a little more to it by including negative numbers. *** QUIZ TOMORROW! SCIENCES HUMAINES 8 - Today we continued on with our vikings project in the library. - Ms Rimmer provided us with some extra texts, books and other useful resources to help with our research! *** We present our projects this Thursday! CIENCES 8: - Today we did our drawings of animal cells (varying skin types from hair, to lungs, to kidneys and more) - This picture is of a cancerous lung cell (not the clearest picture, but the black on top of the pink is the cancer eating away at the healthy lung tissue (pink part) *** Cell drawings with calculations are due Monday if they weren't finished in class. MATH 8: - We spent half the class working on 6.4 and then we went over the questions at the end of class followed by a review of our quiz on 3D objects. - We also tried our hands at PEDMAS with fractions (no division yet) *** No homework for the weekend. Next week we'll have a quiz on adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions and we'll take a look at the division of fractions. - Today we went over our safety quizzes and did a practice run on how to use a microscope and how to do a scientific drawing. Tomorrow we'll look at some cells under the microscope and do a formal drawing for marks. MATH 8: - We spend some time reviewing addition and subtraction of fractions, and we reviewed basic multiplication of fractions (6.3) - We finished off with the notes for section 6.4 on "Multiplier les nombre fractionaire" *** No homework SCIENCES HUMAINES 8: - We continued to work on our current events work for the Olympics...didn't quite get it finished but we'll get it all wrapped up next week. - Tomorrow we'll meet in the classroom before heading off the computer lab for our Vikings project. *** No homework tihs evening |
