SCIENCES 8 - Today we started off with some review of Chp 1, then did a little puzzle activity related to the scientific method (frustrated a lot of students) - We then spent some time looking at cells and our 3D cell model project and finished up introducing the science fair project. - Today we went over our safety quiz from yesterday. Those that didn't make the 80% minimum will be doing a re-write tomorrow. - We spent some time using our compound microscopes in class today looking at letters and doing a scientific practice drawing. Monday we will be using them again and will be doing drawings for marks. - Went over the concepts of Osmosis and Diffusion together. *** Quiz on the parts and functions of the microscope Tuesday May 4th *** MR BARKER WAS AWAY TODAY ***
- Today the students wrote their safety quizzes and then jumped in to the first part of Chapter 1 looking at characteristics of living things, the microscope, viruses and bacteria SCIENCES 8
- Today we spent a lot of time looking at measurements and graphs and then we did a gum lab checking out how the mass changes after chewing. - We also got to feed Cob our corn snake *** Safety quiz tomorrow!!! SCIENCES 8 - Today we wrapped up our safety unit and did review. We have our quiz next Wednesday. Tuesday is a day off for students as it is a pro-d day, and Tuesday we will be taking a look at graphing, measurements and the scientific method as well as completing a lab.
Nothing but a fun day today! We got to do an egg drop challenge and build hot air balloons all class. May have had a close call with the air balloon, but all ended up well. - Today we wrapped up our work on Plate Tectonics, worked on our science fair projects for Monday and watched San Andreas! SCIENCES 8 - Today we wrapped up our notes for Chp 12 and took a look at earthquakes, volcanoes and BC's geographical landscape. - We spent the second half of the class reading about "The Big One" and answering some questions around the possibility of this large earthquake happening. *** Science Fair projects are due Monday and we will have some more time to work on them in class tomorrow!
