SCIENCES 10 - Scientific Method paper towel lab today. We will wrap this up tomorrow and do some chemistry review from last year before getting into new material. SCIENCES 9 - Today we revewed the Bohr Model and the parts of the periodic table. We also started researching an element of the students' choosing to research and create a poster from. Posters are due Monday next week. ***Tomorrow's quiz will include how to find the protons, neutrons and electrons from an element off the periodic table, the different chemical families, and the properties of metals, non-metals and metalloids.
SCIENCES 9
- Today we had our quiz on Chp 1 and then we started to take a look at the periodic table. SCIENCES 10 - One last work day on our Rube Goldberg machines. Projects are due tomorrow and we will present them in class. SCIENCES 9 - Today we explored the properties of metals using bunsen burners and practiced our observation skills. *** Quiz on Chp 1 Thursday SCIENCES 10
- Rube Goldberg work class SCIENCES 9
- Today we reviewed the atom and it's parts as well as the scientists involved in discovering them. We then took a closer look at qualitative and quantitative physical properties as well as physical vs chemical changes. - Finished up the class doing a little activity called "Bag of change" where the students practiced their observation skills mixing 3 unknown chemicals. *** Quiz on Chp 1 Thursday SCIENCES 10 - More work on our Goldberg machines today. The students were very busy testing their designs and trouble shooting their work today. Work must be submitted to Google classroom and groups need to be ready to present for Friday this week.
SCIENCES 10
- Today we introduced the final activity for our physics unit that Mme. Piggin had taught, which is our Rube Goldberg machine challenge. Students will be working on this all week and presenting Friday. All the details can be found on our Google Classroom. Next week we will jump into chemistry. SCIENCES 9 - Today we did a lot of review from grade 8 looking at changes of state, the kinetic molecular theory and then took a look at which scientists were responsible for the different discoveries related to the atom. We will have a quiz Thursday on the material from Chapter 1. |
